Police storefront in Balboa Park hit with vandalism, incendiary device

Teri Figueroa –

Vandals struck a San Diego police storefront in Balboa Park on Tuesday, scrawling anti-police messages and setting off an incendiary device.

Police learned of the incident, at the storefront along Sixth Avenue by Redwood Street, about 1:30 p.m., Sgt. Matthew Botkin said.

They arrived to find charring and burning outside the door, and also a broken window. There was also a smell of gas, Botkin said. The anti-police message was written on the ground.

Investigators collected as evidence an incendiary device found at the scene. The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating.
